Adtech's PTFE Tube helps Billericay school children prepare a rocket car for the Bloodhound SSC land speed record.

Adtech were recently approached by a STEM mentor and Bloodhound ambassador from Billericay School in Essex.

The project is related to the educational aspect of the Bloodhound SSC land speed record attempt.

The rocket car challenge was initiated by the Bloodhound team and the cars use commercially available rockets – usually used for vertical rockets & are available from hobby shops.

The cars can be made of anything, they run down a steel wire and the only rules are, the car has to have 4 wheels on the ground and do a return run within 1 hour – so like the real thing the average is taken.

Case Study - Polyolefin Heat Shrink

The steam pipes on the engine needed to be insulated and so a red polyolefin heat shrink was chosen, as this also indicated that the pipe could be hot, as 'red' is usually associated with danger, as it was possible the engine could be used by a child with learning disabilities.

PTFE Tubing for 3D Printers

PTFE Tubing for 3D Printers

Several years ago Adtech started working with University’s and individuals as part to the ‘Rep Rap’ project to build your own 3D printer.  Since then we have supplied PTFE tube for this project at reduced prices and without stipulating the usual minimum order values.

The 3D printer market  is expanding rapidly and we are now working with more and more manufacturers of 3D printers within the UK and Europe.

Our PTFE tube has excellent low coefficient friction properties and therefore, is essential for the smooth flow of the plastic filament into the machine ready for printing.

Case Study - Non-Stick FEP Roll Covers

Case Study - Non-Stick FEP Roll Covers

We were contacted by an equipment supplier of steel brake discs to the auto industry in Australia. They were in need of a non-stick coating for their stainless steel rollers.

At the point of contact their operators had to manually scrub the steel rollers twice a day to prevent a particle build up that could transfer onto their parts.

Adtech Polymer Engineering Ltd recommended our FEP Roll Covers to eliminate the cleaning process and also improve the potential for a quality concern.

These easy to fit sleeves were installed in March 2014 and they have saved our client an hour a day on cleaning alone. Our client informs us that installing the sleeves has also reduced the potential risk of wrist / shoulder / back injuries.
