PVDF, ETFE & E-CTFE Tubing
PVDF, ETFE and E-CTFE are rigid high tensile strength materials and allow tubing made from them to be used at high pressures. They also have some permeation and chemical advantages over other fluoropolymers.
PVDF Tubing
Trade names: Kynar, Solef
PVDF is a very hard plastic roughly comparable to Halar and relatively cheap compared with other fluoropolymers. Good chemical resistance, but not as good as C-TFE or ETFE.
PVDF tubing is particularly easy to hand weld and used in conjunction with PVDF sheet can be used to fabricate chemical laboratory equipment.
Normally PVDF tubing is produced to order, but we do stock a limited range of standard sizes, from 4mm to 10mm ID.
ETFE Tubing
Trade name: Tefzel
Du Pont developed ETFE as a ‘Tough Teflon’. ETFE is a normal thermoplastic, but it is much harder than PTFE and FEP and is similar in hardness to nylon, therefore, it is used as an ‘Engineering Plastic’.
The improvement in stiffness of ETFE tubing is, however, paid for by reduced chemical resistance and working temperature.
Normally ETFE tubing is produced to order, but we do stock a limited range of standard sizes, from 0.3mm to 2.5mm ID .
E-CTFE Tubing
Trade name: Halar
E-CTFE is a tough plastic with similar properties to Tefzel, used mainly for its chemical resistance.
E-CTFE tubing is produced to order.
MFA Tubing
MFA has similar chemical, electrical and temperature properties than PFA, but offers higher clarity, low haze values and high light and UV transmittance.
MFA tubing is produced to order.
