Punched FEP Cell Spacer for a UVC Application

The Application

A customer required a bespoke FEP spacer for use as an insulating component within a UVC application.

The cross-shaped part was manufactured from 1 mm thick FEP sheet and had an overall dimension of 40 mm x 40 mm.

Each leg measured 10.5 mm wide x 15 mm long, with a central slot section measuring 15 mm wide x 2.5 mm deep.

The Challenge

The customer required a relatively small, precisely shaped insulating spacer rather than a standard washer or simple punched profile.

The dimensions of the individual legs and central slot needed to match the customer’s required component geometry.

The Solution

Adtech punched the FEP sheet to the customer’s specified cross-shaped profile, incorporating the individual legs and central slot into a single component.

Using a punched sheet part allowed the required geometry to be reproduced consistently while retaining the insulating properties required for the UVC application.

The Result

The customer received a bespoke FEP spacer ready for use within the UVC assembly.

The project demonstrates how punched fluoropolymer sheet can be used to create specialist insulating profiles where standard component shapes are unsuitable.
