Project Overview
We were tasked with developing a specialised assembly for a chemical application. The project required intricate craftsmanship and a deep understanding of materials, primarily focusing on fluoropolymers such as FEP tubing and PTFE rod.
Challenges and Requirements
The project demanded the creation of a custom assembly featuring FEP tubing with specific dimensions and configurations, along with stainless steel fittings and PTFE washers. The requirements included forming FEP tubes with precise dimensions (6mm inner diameter x 8mm outer diameter) into two 100mm diameter loops, as well as integrating a larger diameter FEP tube (8mm inner diameter x 10mm outer diameter) into the assembly.
The Initial Production Batch
The initial batch production consisted of five units in two distinct configurations. Our dedicated R&D team played a crucial role in this phase. They developed all necessary tooling in-house, streamlining the manufacturing process and enabling a faster turnaround compared to standard production slots. By involving the R&D team in the production phase and fostering cross-functional collaboration, we aimed to optimise production methods for future scalability.
Conclusion
Following comprehensive evaluation, the customer approved the sample batches, validating the efficacy of our solution. Looking ahead, the company anticipates scaling up production to approximately 500 units annually, demonstrating their commitment to delivering high-quality, bespoke solutions tailored to meet customer needs.
Customer Approval and Future Prospects
Our success in overcoming the challenges posed by this chemical application underscores their technical expertise and
dedication to innovation. Through the integration of advanced materials and processes, coupled with effective collaboration between R&D and production teams, we have not only met but exceeded customer expectations.
